Bashkirov is the initiator and director of the Northern Route: Think North expedition project under the auspices of the Russian Geographical Society.

At present, head, Rustranskom holding’s international cooperation department.

In 2010, he participated in the Arctic 2010 sea expedition aboard the Rossiya nuclear-powered icebreaker, led by Artur Chilingarov, to deploy the North Pole-38 drifting research station with the participation of the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, Atomflot and the Association of Polar Explorers.

Prior to that, Bashkirov was projects director at Metropol Group in the Democratic Republic of Congo and participated in the Arctic-2008 high-latitude air expedition to deliver supplies and rotate personnel at the North Pole-35 drifting research station with the participation of the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, the Federal Security Service Air Administration and the Association of Polar Explorers, among other projects.
