Obama: The international community must reach an agreement on environmental protection

The international community must come to an agreement on environmental protection at the upcoming conference in Paris, Russia's TASS news agency reported following US President Barack Obama's address at the GLACIER Conference, an international conference on cooperation in the Arctic currently underway in Anchorage.

"This year, in Paris, must be the year that the world finally reaches an agreement to protect the one planet we've got while we still can," Obama said. "Human activity is disrupting the climate, in many ways faster than we thought," he stressed.

Representatives of 20 countries are taking part in the climate conference in Alaska's capital, Anchorage.
