An expedition aboard the barque Sedov will navigate the Northern Sea Route in a single season and enter the Guinness World Records, the Arctica-Info agency reports, quoting the Murmansk State Technical University's press service.

"If the weather and ice situation are favorable, the Sedov would sail the Northern Sea Route to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and return to Murmansk in a single navigation season," press service officials said.

There are plans to conduct research projects during the voyage. The expedition will include a team of divers now training for deep-sea plunges in the Arctic Ocean.

The legendary barque Sedov is listed in the Guinness World Records as the largest tall ship for training sailors.
