The Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area leads the way in terms of investment among other Russian Arctic regions, TASS reports, quoting the area governor's press service.

"According to Rosstat, total fixed capital investment volumes reached almost 1.5 trillion rubles (1,496,348,000,000 rubles) in the Russian Arctic last year. Fixed capital investment totaled 1,076,770,000,000 rubles in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area, accounting for 72 percent of the total sum," the press service noted.

Most investment went into buildings and structures. According to the Yamal-Nenets government, the entire Russian Arctic region received 1,119,307,000,000 rubles for maintaining buildings and structures or 74.8 percent of the grand total. The Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area allocated 904,360,000,000 rubles, or 84 percent of total regional investment, for this purpose.
