Russia pledges $30,000 a year for conservation of Arctic flora and fauna

Starting in 2016, Russia will annually provide $30,000 to the Arctic Council for the conservation of local flora and fauna. A document to this effect was posted on the official legal information website.

"The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs will inform the secretariat of the Arctic Council's working group for the conservation of Arctic flora and fauna about the decision that has been made," the report says.

The goal of the Arctic Council's working group for the conservation of flora and fauna is to preserve Arctic biodiversity and make the group's findings known to the Arctic governments and nations.
