Sergei Donskoi to attend The Arctic: Territory of Dialogue international forum

Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Sergei Donskoi will attend The Arctic: Territory of Dialogue forum to speak as participants at the forum gather for a discussion on environmental issues entitled The Arctic: Territory of the Environment,  the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment reports.  

The discussion will focus on the conservation of biological diversity in the Arctic, including the Arctic states' environmental international commitments, ways of forecasting likely environmental damage that may be caused by economic activity in the region and mechanisms for preventing damage, as well as measures to establish corporate environmental liability for the countries' activities in the Arctic.  

Others taking part  in the discussion will include Director of the College of Mining, National University of Science and Technology MISIS Alexander Myaskov, Vice President and State Secretary at Norilsk Nickel Yelena Bezdenezhnykh, Chair of the Senior  Arctic Officials  David Balton, Permanent Secretary at Finland's Ministry of the Environment Hannele Pokka and Executive Director of the UNEP (United Nations Environment Program) Eric Solheim.

The forum will take place in Arkhangelsk on March 29-30, 2017. The theme People and the Arctic will take center stage at the upcoming forum. The aim of the event is to bring together international organizations, public authorities and academic and business communities. Those coming together will be from Russia and abroad and will coordinate approaches to develop international cooperation, consolidate efforts to ensure the sustainable development of the Arctic and  to boost the living standards of the people living there.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin will take part in the forum.
