Rossiya Segodnya to provide informational support for RGO’s ecomonitoring

The Rossiya Segodnya international news agency will provide informational support to the ecomonitoring team on Gogland Island from May 17 to June 17. The announcement was made at a news conference dedicated to a contest for volunteers looking to join the team.

Apart from covering the team's work, journalists and photo correspondents will partake in all its assignments. Russian Geographical Society Expedition Center Deputy Director Artyom Khutorsky suggested sending the agency's cooks to the island as well.

The national contest is held on the Russian Geographical Society website for men between 21 and 27 years old. Applications are accepted from March 4 to April 8. Two groups will depart for the Gogland and Bolshoi Tyuters islands for two shifts.

Their task will be to clean the two islands in the course of a month.

They hope to discover wartime artifacts during their work.

Replying to journalists' questions, Khutorsky said the expedition is safe for participants. In cooperation with military experts, Expedition Center members studied the island and rendered harmless the sections that the team will clean.
