Sergei Donskoi: Meetings with young scientists are very important to us

Sergei Donskoi has met with young Artic scientists as part of the Arctic Days in Moscow Federal Forum.

"Meetings with young scientists are very important to us for several reasons. First of all, we can meet new people. […] Also, such open events promote public interest in the Arctic. And as for me, I would like to learn about new trends in this area and new ideas for development," he said.

The meeting included project presentations and introduced young scientists who are collaborating with the Polar Initiative Scientific Information Center. In particular, there was a presentation on the Arctic Floating University project, which involves maritime integrated scientific and educational expeditions.

Also, Professor Terrence Callaghan, a Nobel Prize winner, spoke at the meeting and presented a few educational projects.

"Youth is the time when many people start making discoveries," Mr Donskoi said, adding that Fridtjof Nansen went on his first expedition when he was 27.
