Arctic development is among the Russian Northern Fleet's priorities for 2016

Next year, development of the Arctic will be among the Russian Northern Fleet's priorities. That, and keeping the Marine Nuclear Deterrence Forces and conventional forces alert and at the ready, Northern Fleet press spokesman, Captain First Rank Vadim Serga said, quoted by Rossiya Segodnya.

"Vice-Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov listed dedicated efforts to deploy and improve its Arctic infrastructure, among the Northern Fleet's priority tasks for next year, in addition to maintaining the combat preparedness of the Marine Nuclear Deterrence Forces and conventional forces," the Northern Fleet press office reported.

In the year that has passed since the Arctic Joint Strategic Command was established, the Northern Fleet has made significant progress in organizing combat training, and in attaining its goals for Arctic development.
