Arctic rescue center begins operations in Naryan-Mar

Construction of Naryan-Mar's Arctic search and rescue center has come to an end, the website of the Nenets Autonomous Area's administration reports.

The center includes an emergency and rescue facility, a fire unit, a search and rescue service with garages for 12 light vehicles, a hangar for small ships of the search and rescue service and of State Small Boat Inspectorate, berths for 16 vessels, winter storage spaces for motor boats, car parking lots and water tanks. A modular gas-heat boiler station and a reserve diesel generator are also located there.

The center houses four establishments aimed at protecting the population and territory of the Nenets Autonomous Area from emergencies and man-made disasters: the Nenets Autonomous Area State Small Boat Inspectorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, the First Squad of the Federal Fire Service of the Nenets Autonomous Area, the Search and Rescue Service, and an affiliate of the North Western Regional Search and Rescue Division of the Russian Emergencies Ministry in the Nenets Autonomous Area.
