Northern Fleet Commander: Russian Navy to get two new polar stations in the Arctic

The Russian Navy will get two new polar stations in the Arctic, Northern Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Nikolai Yevmenev said.

"This year we are launching two polar stations: on Kotelny Island and on Alexandra Land (Franz Josef Land Archipelago)," Mr. Yevmenev told an expanded meeting of the Defense Ministry Board.

The commander also said that the Northern Fleet had performed all the tasks set for 2016, including those on Arctic exploration.
