Arctic fire control and rescue center to be built in Pevek

A combined Arctic fire control and rescue center will be built in Pevek, says a statement on the official website of the Chukotka Autonomous Area, according to which the decision was announced at a meeting between Governor Roman Kopin and federal Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov.

"We will prepare the project in 2017 and complete it in 2018," Puchkov said.

Chukotka Governor Kopin said the center would be invaluable for maintaining safety and responding to emergencies in the area and also in the framework of a project to install a floating nuclear heat and power plant in the Pevek municipality.
