Igor Orlov: First stage of Arkhangelsk deep-water port to open by 2025
There are plans to launch the first stage of the Arkhangelsk deep-water port by 2025, Arkhangelsk Region Governor Igor Orlov told participants in the Russian Investment Forum Sochi 2017.
"We have submitted the port's construction declaration to Rosmorport. We would like to launch its first stage in 2025, and we are discussing this deadline with prospective investors," Orlov noted.
Work is now underway to draft engineering solutions, wells are being drilled at the construction site, and prospecting operations have also commenced there, Orlov noted. "We have signed an agreement with prospective participants," the governor said.
The deep-water section of the Arkhangelsk seaport is seen as the bulwark of the Northern Sea Route's infrastructure, and this construction project is listed in Russia's Transport Strategy until 2030.
