St. Petersburg government to establish an Arctic division

A special division responsible for implementing the federal program for Arctic development will be formed in the St. Petersburg government, the city's governor, Georgy Poltavchenko, said at the 7th Arctic: Today and the Future International Forum held in St. Petersburg.

"The government is considering creating a separate division as part of the city government which will be responsible for implementing the federal Arctic program. The division will be tasked with coordinating the activity of all agencies, organizations and businesses related to the development of the Arctic, as well as organizing interaction between all regions that participate in this program and the federal center," Mr Poltavchenko said.

He suggested that the heads of the Arctic regions join the new division. "The clock is ticking, and it is time for the most resolute actions to implement the tasks set by the president," he said.
