Russia and China set to build White Sea – Komi – Ural railway

Russia and China will jointly build the White Sea — Komi — Ural (Belkomur) railway, reports the press service of the Arkhangelsk Region's government.

The cooperation agreement was signed during Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Beijing by Belkomur General Director Yury Dyomochkin and Poly Technologies Inc. CEO Wang Lin.

The new 1,161-kilometer railway, due to link Arkhangelsk with Syktyvkar and Solikamsk in the Perm Territory, is expected to promote the comprehensive industrial and infrastructure development of northern European Russian regions.

Poly Technologies Inc., the general contractor, will finance, design and build new railway sections, and its experts will also upgrade already existing stretches.

Russia and China are planning to set up a design company that will draft proposals for the conclusion of a concession agreement for the Russian government.
