Russian Airborne Forces, CSTO troops to land in the Arctic in April 2016

Russian Airborne Forces and CSTO service members intend to land in the Arctic in April 2016, RIA Novosti has reported, citing the Russian Defense Ministry's press service and information directorate.

"In April 2016, Airborne Forces units and Collective Rapid Reaction Forces service personnel of the CSTO member states plan to take part in a parachute landing in one of the Arctic regions, as part of a training humanitarian search-and-rescue expedition," the message says.

The landing will take place under extreme conditions.

Russian and foreign paratroopers will carry out this operation in cooperation with the military transport aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces and Russian Geographical Society's Expedition Center.
