Military attaches from 65 countries visit Northern Fleet warships

Members of the military and diplomatic staff from several countries accredited to Russia have visited the Northern Fleet warships, the Northern Fleet's press service has reported. The warships' homeport is in Severomorsk.

A statement posted on the Northern Fleet website says that "military attaches have visited the nuclear-powered Kirov-class battlecruiser Pyotr Veliky and the Slava-class cruiser Marshal Ustinov to learn more about the Northern Fleet."

The visitors were taken on a comprehensive tour around the cruisers and informed about their history and the main weapons they carry. Later in the day a wreath- and flower-laying ceremony was held on Muzhestva Square in Severomorsk at the monument to the Heroes of Severomorsk who defended the country's polar regions during the 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War. The military attaches took part in the ceremony.

On June 5, over 100 military attaches representing 65 countries from around the world met with Northern Fleet Commander Vice-Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov in Severomorsk, who spoke about the contemporary fleet's operation.
