State Commission for Arctic Development to meet in St. Petersburg on December 5

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin will chair an offsite meeting of the State Commission for Arctic Development on December 5 as part of the sixth international forum, The Arctic: Present and Future, in St. Petersburg, the commission's website reported.   

"The meeting will focus on the implementation in 2017 of Russia's state policy in the Arctic, the formation of a waste management system there, state policy measures in the field of scientific research, and the development of investment projects in the mining and metallurgical industry," the website said.

Representatives of Russia's Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Ministry of Education and Science, and Norilsk Nickel are expected to present reports. The meeting will be attended by heads of federal executive bodies, heads of the Arctic regions of Russia, and representatives of business and scientific organizations.
