The international conference on Arctic security and sustainable development

The international conference, Ensuring safety and sustainable development in the Arctic Region, the preservation of ecosystems and the traditional ways of life of the indigenous peoples of the north, took place in Arkhangelsk as part of the 5th meeting of representatives of the Arctic Council’s member and observer states and of the foreign scientific community. The conference included representatives from the energy, business, and scientific fields, experts and polar researchers from eleven countries – Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Russia, the United States, Finland, Sweden, India, China, the Republic of Korea and Singapore.
This international meeting is held annually among representatives of the Arctic Council’s member states and observer states and the foreign scientific community on the initiative of Russia’s Security Council.
