State Commission for Arctic Development to meet in Moscow

The State Commission for Arctic Development will discuss how to implement Russia's state policy in the Arctic on December 13 in Moscow, the commission's press service reports. Other items on the agenda are promoting expedition activities to carry out comprehensive research projects in the Arctic, including as part of international cooperation, and discussing the commission's schedule for 2017.

Chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, the meeting will be attended by representatives of federal executive authorities, heads of Arctic regions, and delegates from the business community and research entities.

The State Commission for Arctic Development was established in March 2015 by the Russian Government in keeping with a presidential executive order. It includes heads of federal executive authorities, top officials of Russian regions that are fully or in part within the Arctic zone, the Russian president's plenipotentiary envoys to the federal districts, and representatives of the Security Council, Presidential Executive Office, other state bodies, research entities and public organizations.
