Moscow to host the 5th Communications in the Russian North conference

The 5th annual Communications in the Russian North conference will take place in Moscow on September 5-6, 2017. The conference's objective is to provide the participants with a platform for sharing experience and to prepare proposals on improving the efficiency of developing telecommunications infrastructure and communications services in the best interest of local residents, the government and businesses in the Far North.

The participants will discuss state policies for communications and broadcasting in the Russian Arctic and the Far North, as well as large infrastructure projects for the development of backbone networks and broadband communications, elimination of the digital divide in the Far North, expansion of the telecommunications infrastructure for industrial and transport enterprises in the Far North and the Russian Arctic, implementation of advanced technologies in an extreme climate, and other issues.

At the end of the conference the participants will prepare practical recommendations for the state agencies responsible for the development of communications in the Far North.

Every year the conference gathers experts in communication that work in the northern regions of the country: representatives of administrations, agencies, service providers, experts from large industrial holdings and companies and many others. This year the conference has become international as it features experts and researchers from Canada, Finland and northern Norway.
