Testing lab put into operation on Prirazlomnaya oil platform

A testing lab has been put into operation on the Prirazlomnaya oil platform to test oil exports for compliance with regulatory quality requirements, the Gazprom Neft Shelf press service reported.

Five experts work at the lab. They measure the oil, diesel fuel and lubricants indices, as well as the physical and chemical parameters of formation fluids and water. The lab operates 24/7.

"Thanks to the high skills of the experts and the wide range of equipment used in the lab, we can conduct all the necessary tests on ARCO, the first Russian Arctic oil, around the clock," said Gennady Lyubin, director general of Gazprom Neft Shelf.

The Prirazlomnoye oilfield is located in the Pechora Sea, 60 km off of the coast, where there is about 70 million metric tons of recoverable oil.

This is the world's first project for oil production in the Arctic shelf. Industrial development of the field began in December 2013.
