Last year, Chukotka's mining companies produced 32.1 metric tons of gold or basically the same amount as last year, said officials at the Chukotka Autonomous Area's Department of Industrial Policy, Construction, Housing and Utilities. Silver production volumes reached 156 metric tons or 13 percent more than in 2014.

In 2015, the Chukotka Mining & Geological Company, Northern Gold Ltd., the Karalveem Mine, Valunisty Mine Ltd. and Maiskoye Gold Co. all extracted gold ore from Chukotka.

In all, 16 companies mined local placer gold deposits and obtained over 2.1 metric tons of the precious metal.
