2015 marks a rise in tourism inflow to the Nenets Autonomous Area

In 2015, 34,035 tourists visited the Nenets Autonomous Area, the area's Deputy Governor Galina Medvedeva said in her report to the deputies on the current status of the tourism sector. In 2014, the number of tourists was 19,812, and in 2013 — 8,404.

"Over 2015, Nenets Autonomous Area climbed eleven positions higher on the ranking of the most popular regions with Russian and foreign tourists. This is a small but meaningful victory which we can take pride in and build on," the Deputy Governor noted.

In 2015, the tourism and recreational potential of the Nenets Autonomous Area was boosted through the realization of various projects and the organization of information and advertising tours. The autonomous area was included in the TopTripTip —Travel Across Russia mobile app available on both iOS and Android. The area's eventful projects and events competed on the regional stage of the Russian Event Awards national prize for event-rich tourism in the Northwestern Federal District. Package tours were developed for the top Russian tour operators, including Information tour, Discover Your Arctic, and many others,
