On February 19, a snowmobile expedition set out from Yekaterinburg, aiming to reach the Arctic Ocean coast, TASS news agency reported. The expedition, according to the team leader Konstantin Kuznetsov, seeks to lay the North snowmobile trail to promote tourism in the Arctic.

"Today, we have set out from Yekaterinburg to complete the North snowmobile trail, which will connect the Middle Urals and the Arctic Ocean coast. The new route will allow tourists to reach the Arctic coast on snowmobiles and help promote ecotourism projects," Kuznetsov said.

The journey will take 36 days, during which the travelers will cover over 3,000 km. "The route will pass through the Sverdlovsk Region, Perm Territory, Komi Republic, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area — Yugra and Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area. Some of the famous landmarks along the way include the Dyatlov Pass," Kuznetsov said.

Last year, the first attempt by the travelers to reach the Arctic Ocean on snowmobiles failed due to above zero temperatures in Yamal in March.
