The northernmost ski resort Kaya to open in Taimyr

Kaya, a modern ski resort has been built in Dudinka on Taimyr, the press service of the Dolgano-Nenets Municipal District, Krasnoyarsk Territory reported. The resort is being built as part of an initiative that won the World of New Opportunities competition for social projects organized by Norilsk Nickel.

The ski resort is not finished yet. "At this point, we've completed the work described in the grant: the slope was prepared, lighting installed and snow equipment purchased. This is a good start for promoting winter sports in Taimyr, but we're not going to stop here. For instance, we plan to install a chairlift," said Sergei Tkachko, head of the regional administration and the initiator of the project.

The ski resort will have infrastructure for alpine skiing, snowboarding and tubing. The terrain allows for building green and blue (that is, easy and intermediate) ski runs. The resort will also host family events, sports festivals, and public events, including the Ready for Labor and Defense standards program.
