State Duma to spend 5.5 million rubles to study the legal regulations of Arctic development

The website of state purchases reports that the State Duma is holding a tender for studying ways of improving the legal regulations of Russia's part of the Arctic and intends to spend 5.5 million rubles for this purpose.

"The goal of the expert analytical study is to analyze the trends in current legal regulations and draft proposals on priority areas for improvement, which will be aimed at the efficient human capital development and economic development of the Arctic," the technical assignment reads.

The State Duma notes in its document that new access to resources is turning the Arctic into an area of tension and overlapping military interests. "If previously the region was considered fairly peaceful, now there is tension between powers. Preservation of peace in the Arctic is more important than ever," the document reads.
