One of the world’s largest glaciers breaks up in Greenland

The Zachariae Isstrom glacier, which is part of the Greenland ice sheet, has become detached from the ice sheet and has been melting due to rising air and water current temperatures, Reuters reported.

Other regions of the country also face major ice losses. New icebergs in the Arctic split off and constantly melt, which raises the sea level. The melting ice sends five billion metric tons of water into the Atlantic Ocean a year.
