Expedition from Krasnoyarsk to circumnavigate the world in 2017

Researchers and explorers are to leave on a round-the-world trip aboard the yacht Yelizaveta from Krasnoyarsk this coming summer. This has been reported by the Russian Geographical Society's Expedition Center in the Siberian Federal District.

Expedition members are to set out on July 12, 2017, and head west. The aim of the project is to study navigation opportunities for small ships in the Kara Sea. The route of Alexander Kolchak's hydrographic expedition that discovered the Severnaya Zemlya Archipelago will be traced.

There are plans to compile a guidebook covering the route of the expedition. Hydrographic data will be collected from the continental shelf, as well as from little-studied remote areas in the open ocean.
