The President signs law on second Far Eastern hectare and Arctic hectare

Vladimir Putin has signed a law on the allocation of a second Far Eastern hectare to those who have made good use of the first hectare. Under the law, a similar one hectare program will also be launched in the Arctic.

The main aim of the law is to simplify the allocation of land in the Arctic for the construction of residential housing, farms or any other economic enterprise.  The idea is to put the unused plots of land into economic turnover and therefore increase tax payments to the local budgets.

Taking into account the specific climate and socioeconomic conditions in the Arctic zone, the allocation mechanism will slightly differ from that used in the Far East. People will only be allowed to choose a piece of land in the specially designated Artic regions, which are listed in the law.

On the other hand, the law allows those who have made good use of and have privatized the first Far Eastern hectare to obtain one more plot of land with an area of up to one hectare.
