Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic: number of applications for Arctic hectares increases by a third

Between February 1 and 14, over 1,500 applications were filed as part of the Arctic Hectare program.

“Hectares in Karelia gained most popularity: the number of applications for this region tripled over 14 days. In total, more than 337,000 hectares are available for registration in Karelia, for use free of charge. Plots in the Murmansk region are also in high demand: the region leads in terms of the number of applications submitted. People living in St. Petersburg, Moscow and the Leningrad Region were active participants in the program’s second stage,” the press service of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic notes.

In total, over 7,300 applications have been received since August 1, 2021, when the Arctic Hectare program was launched for people living in the Arctic regions. The leaders are the Murmansk Region (3,600 applications), Republic of Karelia (1,700), Arkhangelsk Region (over 1,000), and Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area (781 applications). Over 2,100 participants have already received land plots for use free of charge.

The Arctic hectare is provided in the Murmansk Region, in the Nenets and Yamal-Nenets autonomous areas, as well as in the municipalities of the Arkhangelsk Region and the republics of Komi and Karelia. People can choose their plot online at гектарварктике.рф
