Presidential Library to give Spitsbergen Museum a unique document about Russian polar explorers

The Presidential Library will give a digital copy of a unique historical document about Russian polar explorers to the Arktikugol company to be part of the updated museum collection at Russian Spitsbergen villages, the Arktika-Info news agency reports.

The document being given is titled, The Dossiers of the Council of Ministers on the Allocation of Funds to the Assistance to the Arctic Ocean Hydrographic Expedition, Headed by Aide-de-Camp Boris Vilkitsky, Who is Spending the Winter in Taimyr Bay, and for the Continuated Search for the Expeditions of Georgy Sedov, Georgy Brusilov, and Vladimir Rusanov.

"The digitized document testifies to the courage of Russian explorers, and clearly proves that it was Russian researchers who, with state assistance, took a comprehensive approach to exploring this part of the world. It helps deepen our understanding of the problem-laden situation surrounding Russian polar explorations," reads a message posted on the website of the Presidential Library.
