UN to consider Russian claim to Arctic shelf in March – ministry
Russia's claim to an extended Arctic shelf should be considered in-depth in February or March 2016, First Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Denis Khramov told TASS.
"We hope that work on this will begin at the next session in February or March," he said.
The claim is being assessed as regards its compliance with international requirements.
"On the whole, we believe the chances are good. In terms of scientific substantiation, everything has been done well," he said.
Russia claims 1.2 million square kilometers of shelf in the Arctic Ocean.
