New Emergencies Ministry’s Arctic tractor unit to be tested in Yakutia

Tests of the new Arctic tractor unit for the Emergencies Ministry will soon begin in Yakutia, the Almaz-Antey company's spokesperson told journalists on Friday.

"This is the first piece of equipment our plant has made for the Emergencies Ministry. We tried to fulfill as many of the northerners' wishes as we could… and we are sure the unit will not fail during the upcoming tests," the press service reports, citing Dmitry Oleinik, general director of the Bryansk Automobile Plant, which is part of the Almaz-Antey corporation.

The new unit, built on a BAZ-69092 frame with a 6×6 wheel configuration, has a cargo platform for rescue, evacuation, humanitarian and medical operations.

"We made several changes to the life support systems, the chassis and the frame for the unit to be used in the Arctic and the Extreme North," the spokesperson noted.
