Over 3,000 metric tons of cargo and construction materials will be delivered to Cape Schmidt and Wrangel Island during the navigation period in order to complete the production of the necessary facilities for military compounds and Defense Ministry sites, the Arktika Info agency reports, citing a statement by the Eastern Military District press service.

"On Cape Schmidt, in particular, it is planned to complete rigging up the technical area for military personnel to keep watch, and to complete the reconstruction of the airfield," the report reads.

Cargo is meant to be delivered by seacraft of the Northern Shipping Company and the Far Eastern Shipping Company, according to state contracts.
