A rescue vehicle for the Arctic

The Russian Emergencies Ministry has announced a tender to create a rescue vehicle for the Russian Arctic zone. According to RIA Novosti, the proposal has been posted on the public procurement website. The initial (maximum) government contract price will be 31 million rubles.

Under the request for proposal, an AWD off-road 6x6 vehicle will be used to move rescuers, special tools and equipment, communications, lighting and means of personnel protection to an accident or an emergency site, as well as to carry out emergency rescue operations in residential or administrative buildings at industrial or transport facilities. The vehicle is to be operative in extreme weather at temperatures ranging from — 60 to + 40 degrees Celsius.

The vehicle is expected to be used for general, radiation, chemical, engineering and technical recon missions, as well as for lighting and fencing work sites. It is also expected to provide relief during ​​emergencies; searches for missing people in poor visibility; first aid to victims and, if necessary, evacuation to safety or collection points.

Proposals will be accepted until August 21. The results will be announced on August 25. The project must be completed before November 30, 2017.
