Northern Fleet drills off Taimyr completed

Russia's Northern Fleet and Airborne Troops have ended a joint military exercise in the Arctic during which they practiced actions to protect an important industrial facility, the Arctic-Info news agency reports.

According to Northern Fleet Commander Admiral Vladimir Korolyov, the Arctic Motorized Infantry Brigade and the mobile airborne units that took part in the drills confirmed their capability to protect commercial facilities in the Russian part of the Arctic.

The experience in organizing combat interaction between various branches of the armed forces that we gained during the exercise will be used in troop training for operations in the Arctic, Admiral Korolyov said.

The drills involved over 1,000 servicemen, 14 aircraft, and 34 combat and special units of equipment.
