Glavgosexpertiza approves Sabetta Port construction

According to the LenmorNIIproekt design company's press service, the Main Directorate for State Expert Reviews (Glavgosexpertiza) has approved construction of the Sabetta Port on the Yamal Peninsula, including the creation of a navigable access canal in the Gulf of Ob.

LenmorNIIproekt is the general design contractor of the sea-related segment of the Sabetta project, whose construction started on July 23, 2012 under the Yamal LNG project.

The preparatory period structures, such as three cargo berths and an auxiliary fleet berth, will be built under the project. The ports are owned by the state (water area, canals, protective structures and safe navigation facilities) and investors.

The main seaport facilities include a process rack, two LNG berths and ice barriers.

The cargo berth construction has been completed. Dredging and a commercial product jetty are under construction.

The first LNG tanker will leave Sabetta in 2017.
