Companies on Arctic shelf projects to be required to provide ship-building plans

Companies bidding to work on the Russian Arctic shelf will be required to present plans for building ships at Russian shipyards, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Sergei Donskoi said.

"A draft government resolution to this effect is planned to be passed before the end of the year. The document will require that companies bidding for Russian continental shelf development projects clearly outline schedules and the volume of work for building sea vessels and other facilities necessary for the shelf projects," Donskoi said.

The draft resolution was drawn up by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. "In order to implement Arctic projects, we need to stick to a consistent approach from the very beginning. Only in this way will we be prepared to meet any challenges or sanctions," the minister said.
