Northern Fleet’s Arctic brigade armed with new all-terrain vehicles

The Arctic detached motorized rifle brigade was allocated 30 new DT-10MP Vityaz tracked all-terrain vehicles, RIA Novosti reported citing Northern Fleet spokesman, Captain Second Class Andrei Luzik.

"This vehicle was designed for use in the Arctic. It can carry up to 10 tons of cargo on surfaces with low bearing capacity, including marshy or snowy terrain. The brigade was also given A-1 snowmobiles," Luznik said.

Previously, the brigade used TTM-4902PS-10 tracked floating snow and swamp vehicles and AM-1 ATVs.

"TTM-4902PS-10 tracked floating snow and swamp vehicles and AM-1 ATVs passed their reviews during a Northern Fleet warship expedition in the Arctic Sea in 2015. As part of the expedition to Taimyr Peninsula and Kotelny and the Novaya Zemlya Islands, the Arctic brigade held military exercises with this new equipment," Luznik said.

This new equipment has been adapted to low temperatures: the snowmobiles are equipped with handle-bar and seat heaters and special brackets to mount weapons.
