Northern Fleet service personnel learn to drive reindeer, dog sleds
The detached Arctic motor rifle brigade of the Russian Northern Fleet has been trained in driving the transport used by the indigenous people in the north —reindeer and dog sleds, said the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry's Eastern Military District.
"The military has learned to drive dog and reindeer sleds and has been trained in tactical strategies for raid activities," the Defense Ministry's website said.
The first introductory sessions for service personnel in the reconnaissance squadron of the Arctic brigade took place at a reindeer farm near the village of Lovozero in the Murmansk Region. Reindeer breeders and dog drivers also introduced them to the breeding and training techniques of these animals.
