In 2016, the Northern Fleet's submarines will patrol new regions of the Arctic under the ice, RIA Novosti reports citing Commander of the Northern Fleet, Vice Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov.

"Northern Fleet submarines will continue patrolling various parts of the World Ocean in addition to this new under-ice navigation, exploring new sectors of the Arctic seas," Mr Yevmenov said.

According to the Commander, Northern Fleet strategic nuclear submarines have been patrolling the Arctic on a regular basis.
