Putin to discuss Russian Arctic development at a government meeting on September 7

President Vladimir Putin will discuss the development of Russia's Arctic zone at a government meeting on September 7, the Kremlin press service reported.

"On September 7, President Vladimir Putin will chair a regular meeting of the Russian Government. The development of Russia's Arctic zone will top the agenda. A number of important current matters will also be discussed," the press service said.

Earlier, the president announced that the Arctic should be free of geopolitical games by military blocs, behind-the-scenes deals or division into spheres of influence. He reaffirmed Russia's commitment to the peaceful exploration of the Arctic in keeping with its national interests and with respect for the interests of other nations.
