Russian military units in the Arctic to have access to Angel robotic nurse

Russian military personnel in the Arctic will be able to get medical assistance from the Angel robotic nurse system, which can diagnose diseases and apply medicines to patients, Vladimir Lepin, head of the Splav Research and Production Association where the robotic system was created, told RIA Novosti.

"The Defense Ministry and Splav intend to deliver this equipment to outlying regions, including the Arctic — an agreement to this effect has been reached, as well as to border stations. We only need to adjust our equipment to the climate in the Extreme North," Lepin said.

He added that batch production of this equipment will begin in 2017. The agreement on the delivery of Angel systems has also been coordinated with the Perm Territory government.

Lepin said that the system is produced in the stationary and portable formats and can distinguish changes in the patients' condition and monitor programmable syringe pumps for drug infusions. The system can analyze information it receives from data collection sensors to adapt drug infusion flow rates.

"The portable version is designed for medical assistance in emergencies, during patient transportation and in outlying areas that have equipment for remote medical data transfer," Lepin said.
