Rogozin: Arctic research should be integrated into concrete projects

Scientific research integrated into concrete Arctic projects will have stable financing, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said during a meeting of the Presidium of the State Commission for Arctic Development on June 29, TASS reported.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Maritime Defense Show.

"We should consider how best to integrate science, which, unfortunately, is usually funded on a residual basis — especially amid budget restrictions — into concrete practical projects, which will enable science to receive stable funding," Mr. Rogozin said.

The commission's previous session chaired by Rogozin was held in Sabetta (Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area) on June 14.

The State Commission for Arctic Development was established by the Russian Government in March 2015 under a presidential executive order.
