Northern Fleet’s Gorizont completes Arctic voyage

The Gorizont, a hydrographic ship of the Northern Fleet, has completed a research voyage to the Arctic, Captain First Class Vadim Serga, head of the Northern Fleet's press service, told RIA Novosti.

"The crew and a group of hydrographers spent a month performing comprehensive oceanographic research to provide navigation and hydrographic support for Russia's maritime activities in the Barents and Kara seas. They conducted hydrographic and hydrological research, studied radio navigation fields, and collected data to help correct maps, regulations and navigation aids," he said.

Their work was complicated by the ice situation in the Franz Josef Land area.
