Russia receives invitation to join international conference on cooperation in the Arctic

Russia has received an invitation to take part in an international conference on cooperation in the Arctic, which will be held in Anchorage, Alaska, the Russian Foreign Ministry's Spokesperson Maria Zakharova told RIA Novosti.

"Russia has received an invitation. Russian Ambassador to the US Sergei Kislyak will lead a delegation of Russian experts," she said.

The conference will be held on August 30-31 in Anchorage, Alaska. In addition to the eight members of the Arctic Council — Denmark, Iceland, Canada, Norway, Russia, the US, Finland and Sweden — invitations have also been sent to China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the Netherlands, Poland, Singapore, Spain, the UK and the EU.
