Lavrov: Russia invites China to participate in Arctic projects, including LNG production

Russia has invited China to participate in a number of Arctic projects, including the creation of liquefied natural gas (LNG) production facilities, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said, RIA Novosti reported.

"China is an observer in the Arctic Council, and apart from that it is interested in cooperation and participation in practical projects undertaken by the Arctic Council member states. We would like to invite our Chinese partners, along with our partners from France, to participate in a number of interesting projects, including the creation of LNG production facilities," Mr Lavrov said during the Terra Scientia on Klyazma River National Educational Youth Forum.

He added that the implementation of those projects would be in compliance with the Russian laws "because this is our part of the Arctic and such it will remain."
