Russian Foreign Minister to take part in Arctic Council meeting
Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will take part in a ministerial meeting of the Arctic Council on May 10-11 in Alaska, TASS reported, citing Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova.
"Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will take part in the Arctic Council ministerial meeting in Fairbanks," Zakharova said. "The Arctic countries' foreign ministers will discuss current issues related to strengthening international cooperation in the Arctic in the interests of ensuring the region's sustainable development. The agreements reached will be reflected in the outcome statement," she said.
Zakharova said that there are plans to sign in Fairbanks an intergovernmental agreement on strengthening international Arctic cooperation, with all Arctic countries taking part.
