Heat in Murmansk at top record level

The temperature in Murmansk topped the 1957 record on Wednesday, according to the regional office of the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring (Gidrometsentr).

"A new high was recorded on July 18. In 1957, the temperature on this day was 31.4 degrees. Today as of 3 pm, it is 32.2 degrees," said Yelena Siyekinen, head of the Murmansk Gidrometsentr office.

The polar day continues in Murmansk: the sun there never sets below the horizon.

According to Gidrometsentr data, the maximum temperature in the history of Murmansk is 32.9 degrees Celsius.
